Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

So Far, So Good At The Star

Posted 09-09-2016 at 02:00 PM by case44

High school football is in full swing, and this writer has already been to three games at Frisco's (Texas) brand new Ford Center At The Star. And so far, the experience has mostly been a good one. We're all still getting used to the place, and it will no doubt grow on us.

As football and marching band fans get used to The Star, I am amazed at the air-conditioned comfort throughout the game. The sightlines are very good. Oddly enough, the press box is opposite what the powers that be have designated as the home side. Nevertheless, it is going to be a great place to watch a game or some other event for years upon years to come. Many people around the area have given the place nothing but rave reviews!

My only real gripes are that the seats are a tad small (especially for this big guy), and that the west parking lot has the sprinklers turned on during the game. You'd think that a class NFL franchise like the Dallas Cowboys could have made slightly larger seats in the main seating areas. Oh, well. And as for the sprinklers, folks, please use them in the morning when there are no games going on. Wet sidewalks and stairwells (which you'll find going in from street level to the parking area south of the Cowboys Headquarters building) are a safety hazard. I don't want to walk through the wet grass. So, until they rectify that situation, I'll just park in the east parking lot, since there's one over there.

Air-conditioned comfort and no worries about rain while you watch the game at The Star. Gotta love it!

And you know that I'll be back.
