i think our state and region is in a transitional time right now and we will stumble until we integrate urban and rural sensibilities
i saw someone with an Italian last name running for state government lol, that's a first.
HB2 is really a good example of the problem honestly the left and right failed the citizens and LGBT folks.
HB2 was a law fixing no problem, there was no issue to fix and the status quo of basically "dont ask don't tell" was fine.
a lot of people complain online but you ahve to acknowledge we have an influx of people from the NE with a carpetbagger mentality and heavy phobias about the culture and a feeling they need to 'fix' it. That's why I cringe when i hear people talk about 'new south' cities.

It's funny you say that. My wife and I were watching some guy who was on a state board or school board or something and in a northern accent he was saying we have a beautiful state and we need to do what's best for our state and us as "north caroLIEneeans" and we bout fell out. NC is no longer southern it belongs to the transplants. As one New Yorker told me when she asked why I sound like a southerner, nc is the "new New York"
