hunterseat df: Hunter Seat Equitation is a division that is judged on the ability and the style of the rider. The riders can be judged both over fences and on the flat.

Although true, hunters DO eat, at least the skilled ones do, my name derives from the world of horses.

And because the word hunter is in my name, people automatically think I'm a guy. Not even close.

Whenever I meet someone named Hunter I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying "That's my name, too!"

Audio Adrenaline

Ever heard of them? It's the name of a Contemporary Christian band. My oldest son loved them growing up. The Houseplant Song is one of my favorites.

But this post isn't about them. It's about audio books. Sorry. Hope you're not disappointed. Be not dismayed. It won't be a long post!

Hi. I'm hunterseat. I'm an audio book addict. *crickets chirping*

I've had a pretty good run with Jack Reacher stories lately. The guy who performs them sound like a flamer when he does the female voices but I got used to it. At least you notice a change (no pun) when he's going from one character to another. Besides, it's usually either a man or a woman reading the books. (I just re-read that last statement and I wanted to add something: duh) Which is to say someone has to pretend to be the other gender, right? Lots of actors do a great job. One of my side-splitters was the Janet Evanovich book Metro-girl. There's a cross dresser in there and I nearly died laughing. I also loved Annie Potts reading Larry McMurtree's Telegraph Days. She was awesome and it was a great story, too.

Yesterday I grabbed THREE audiobooks in anticipation of my 8hr drive next week for training. A trusty Jack Reacher, a best seller by a lady with the same name as a childhood friend, and another that I wasn't really sure about but I wanted to take a risk.

Now I choose (because I have two commute days to work before the trip) and I pick the unknown wild card recording. So far? The only way I knew the first disc was over was when the introduction began to play. The second disc is a continuation of blandness so much so that I watch the display to be sure the disc hasn't started over. I think it's British - normally I love British. There are lots more discs. The jury's out. But there doesn't seem to be a plot. There are journalists and there are computer hackers. And an autistic kid. But none of it comes together yet. I've got one more commute 'till the big trip.

Get better, little book or you'll be chopped.
