A New Day

Well today is a new day in my overwhelming quest to find a job in the rust belt. I received two rejection emails yesterday for jobs I applied to, but did not interview for. One said they had more qualified candidates, the other said I was not the "right fit."
I guess I am both under-qualified and over-qualified. When am I going to find the job where I am just-right-qualified?![Confused](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Yesterday I attempted to call back the local Staples store to see about setting up an interview for the part-time minimum wage job. I called the phone number the woman left on my voice mail, and I made sure to call after 10 am seeing as Staples doesn't open until 10 am. I called twice. Both times I got the automated voice system:
"Press 1 for English"
"Press 2 if you are in need of assistance for toner"
etc, etc.
I chose the "press nothing option" to wait on the line for assistance. Both times I called I waited for 5 minutes on hold, the music would play and then cut off (someone's going to pick up!), but then I would be disappointed and the music would start playing again. I didn't feel like sitting on hold with Staples listening to bad, choppy music, so I hung up both times. I figure if the woman wanted me bad enough she would call my cell phone again, and this time I would pick up.
She didn't call, guess I'm a dime a dozen![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Yeah, I suppose I should have bucked-up and stayed on hold for as long as it took, the two times I called Staples, but that seems like too much work for a minimum wage job. Anyway, do I really want to work for a store that cannot even pick up the phone when customers call? Sounds like a dysfunctional management. At every job I have ever had, we HAD to pick up the phone after the 3rd ring. If we left someone on hold for 5 minutes, there would be hell to pay.
I guess retail jobs have changed in the 21st century.![Dubious](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/dubious.gif)
