Important People Doing Important Things!

Welcome to my misanthropic journey through life. Is it almost over? God I hope so.

Interesting

I applied online to Staples yesterday morning for a "Print/Copier Coordinator" in one of the local stores. In the afternoon I received a phone call/message from the manager, saying she was going through the resumes and she wants me to come into the store for an interview.

What is interesting is I used my "dumbed-down" resume to apply to this job and this was the fastest response I have received so far in my two-month job search. Granted it is for a part-time minimum wage job, but I have a feeling that if I had put on all of my skills/work experience/education and (especially my Bachelor's Degree), I don't think she would have called me.

Also, on my resume, for my Associates Degree I deleted the year I graduated and I added my high school (with no graduation year). If I do go for an interview (I have to call her back this morning), she probably will be "surprised" to see Ms. Grey Hair!

Anyway, I don't mind working retail, and I don't mind part-time minimum wage. If I get the job I can save some money (any money is better than NO money which is what I am making now) for my move to greener pastures in November. Who knows, maybe I could get into the management program in Staples and get a job in one of their stores in the west coast.

Yeah, I'm dreaming...

Thanks for the feedback! Someone is actually reading my blog, and can relate. Searching for a job is tough, tougher than actually having a job. I still think they need a reality show about job searchers. Never going to happen . . . too depressing.
