Where are my stars?

Posted 05-31-2016 at 04:33 PM by peebola

Why does my City-Data Blog not have a five star rating? In fact it has NO stars. What gives?

You would think everyone would be interested in reading about a washed-up granny looking for a job in the rust belt. It's hilarious!

Yeah right...

You know what I have noticed in the past 5-6 years? A sense of humor is frowned upon in the human population. No one wants to laugh, no one wants to be the "cloon" (Shout out to "Baskets")- everything is so deadly serious, especially in America.

Maybe if I had a blog about my daily outrage over the lack of transgender bathrooms I can finally get my stars.

Lighten up people. Laugh a little, have some self deprecating humor, don't get pissed off over sarcasm or satire. Yeah, I am looking for a job and the chances of me getting one are very, very, very slim - however I have to keep my sense of humor or I will be like many people on City-Data and in real life: depressed; on prescription drugs; and so deadly serious and anxious about every little thing.

There is a new live variety show on NBC tonight called "Maya and Marty" and it airs at 10:00 pm EST. If I can stay awake long enough I might just watch it. I love variety shows, Carol Burnett was the best. It is time for some laughter in this world. I know I need more laughter in my life.

Here's a word of advice from a fellow blogger: Don't let stars be your focus. You just keep writing. People from all over the world are going to read your journals just like they have with me. You'll have an audience whether you get five stars or not. I've written nearly 800 blog posts in eight years' time, and I'm having the time of my life doing it because I've got a good place to go when I have something on my mind. If people like what we type up, then they'll rate us. I don't obsess over stars; all I'm interested in is sharing my world with others just like you are.

Glad you're on the blogs with a great C-D family!

Thanks for the advice case44. Yeah, I know stars are not important, I was just commenting about it in a tongue-in-cheek manner. I had a job search blog a few years ago on Wordpress called "iguessineedajob" at that time I was looking for yet another full-time job. I ended up applying for close to 150 jobs in 6 months and NO offers. I documented the job search on the Wordpress blog and I had a good time doing it, just like you are. I actually like Wordpress better than C-D because you can put images on it easily, and I had some funny images I created about my job search. I may look into going back to Wordpress and doing a job search blog (if Wordpress still exists), because it seems this current job search may take years.
