House Of Games (1987), David Mamet ★★★★★
Movie of the week
Mamet's debut film. I'm reading Gavin De Becker's The Gift of Fear, and he references this film, so I looked it up - house of games ebert, and it's one of his Great Movies. All I can say is hell hath no fury...
The scene he mentions has a well known actor in a bit part - he only shows up in this one scene - William H. Macy.
Anyone who has seen William Wyler's The Letter (1940) may know about the ending [ which was rejected and rewritten because it did not punish the murderer. ] < spoilers, hightlight to read <
The Sullivans (1944), Lloyd Bacon ★★★★★ rewatch
An American Crime (2007), Tommy O'Haver ★★
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943), Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburge ★★★★★ rewatch
