Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Buddy Holly Hall Will Offer A New Musical Venue In The Hub City

Posted 04-13-2016 at 07:48 PM by case44

Lubbock's been waiting for this. Boy, has that town waited. And now, we're going to see progress. You won't see it yet in the flesh, but you can take a look at the designs for what the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences will look like.

And just dig the curvature design to be placed on a communications tower adjacent to the eventual complex, and it's going to light up at night. All in anticipation for the great new venue in the Hub City. It promises to be even better than Dallas' Morton Meyerson Symphony Center. Half of the $146 million has been raised to this point. This post would be worthless without pictures and someone else's text (and a video), so here's your link.

Milestones - LEPAA

Texas' other music city will now add another venue to showcase various musical talents, plus Ballet Lubbock. This is a huge step in Lubbock, and it will even be located next door to the new Bush College Baseball Hall of Fame. Talk about a spike in tourism, not to mention a hot spot for local patrons, even those who don't like classical music. Stay tuned for more things coming.

Oh, that opening date, you ask? Try 2019, with construction beginning this coming fall. Yeah, yeah, an agonizing wait, but it will be worth it when everything's done.

I've seen the website for it the other day and, from the looks of things, it should be pretty elaborate. Lubbock is stepping up in a very big way with it. I'm sure the late, great Buddy Holly would be awfully proud.
