Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Green Things Aren't Just About Spring

As you can see, it's St Patrick's Day. And, yes, that was a green smiley. It's within reason for this post. Sure, the first of spring is in a few short moons from now, but today offers something just a bit more important. There's plenty of green all around, and not necessarily just on the trees or golf courses.

I did my part today. At work, we were celebrating St Paddy's Day, and folks all over the floor were bringing different green foods. It needed to be festive, and sometimes, you have to make your work environment a little less, well, boring. And what better way than with more green than Kermit the Frog at a jumpers convention? So, I brought salad. Yes, green salad. And green cucumbers. And green onions. And green pepper slices. Others brought dishes that contained green foods (one notable was a chicken pasta dish that contained green peas). We did everything to make the day a pleasant experience.

And, on that same day, we were supposed to have corporate executives visiting at my workplace. I ended up not being around for that. While I await spring's grand entry to a weather environment already programmed in spring-like conditions, we can bask in the greenery of the old Irish. Enjoy your St Paddy's Day!

As I was preparing the salad for today's function, I accidentally cut my finger with a meat cutter (which was used for the lettuce). At least, I didn't drip green blood, but it could have actually been much worse.

Rest assured that I am fine. Part of the left index and cuticle sustained a minor grazing, but you can't take a meat cutter for granted.

    Ouch.

I attended two things with groups on St Pat's: A party with some work buddies and then a friend of mine did a thing over at TGI Fridays with a few other folks. I might have had a bit too much to drink. Wonderful time.
