Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Oh, Case, Not Another Food Post For The Masses, Right?

Posted 03-04-2016 at 05:59 PM by case44

Now, come on, y'all. Who really doesn't like food? Unless your diet consists of granola bars, sprouts, or a sprig of parsley, then you must like some sort of food.

I bring this up because I've got a number of restaurants on my mind. Too many, in fact, to visit right away. Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, The Casester will venture off to a flavorful table of glorious taste-bud delights, or my username isn't whatever my username is.

Several places, some of which I've been to before and others, I've never tried but would like to. And the great thing about the internet? You get to see what you might order someday!

Here are a few places:

Del Frisco's Grille, Southlake, TX - I'm craving a bigger steak than the one I had last time. I'd like to get that salad again with bacon (Man, that bacon was good!!). And there's an excuse to see Stacey (the waitress I had on my previous visit).

Daniel Boone's Grill, Tyler, TX - If I could work this into an East Texas day trip, then this place will be worth a stop. Two things I want to try from what looks like a fabulous menu: the one-pound hamburger steak with the rich, brown gravy and topped with onions and mushrooms; second would be the barbecued grilled chicken breasts.

Catfish O'Harlie's, Decatur, TX - Way too much time has passed since my last visit there. Best catfish outside of anything you could get in East Texas. This has been a North Texas fixture for years, with great fries and hush puppies to go with your fried catfish.

Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ, Kansas City, MO - Yes, I do crow a lot about Texas barbecue, but I wouldn't mind seeing what those Mizzou folks do with Kansas City's rendition. The website along can make anyone hungry.

Esparza's Restaurante Mexicano, Grapevine, TX - Want to know why this local eatery is always crowded? This 19th-century home with the streetside patio, just off the path of Downtown Grapevine, offers a good array of regional favorites. As many times as I've passed that place, I definitely will try to go.........when it isn't crowded. They're known for their margaritas, but they also have brisket enchiladas, chicken milanesa, chalupas compuestas, and chile rellenos.

Tavolo Italia, Frisco, TX - They just opened, but it looks intriguing. Hopefully a better choice than Eddie Napoli's was, but this new Frisco spot should be nicer. Located in Downtown Frisco, this Italian eatery offers veal marsala, Bolognese pastas, pansotti, and various pizzas. Don't try to go on Mondays, as they'll be closed on that day. They're also open only for dinner. For now, anyway.

Well, there you are. Some palate-awakening ideas for a Case excursion. I know that Kansas City is a stretch now, but maybe one of these days, I'll try to head up there. In the meantime, if you are near these places, then I encourage you to check them out. There's always something on every menu that you'll want to remember.
