Tired of Moving

Posted 12-06-2015 at 02:01 PM by GraniteStater

This is an update-
I have not had a very pleasant last few years in my personal life as I've tried to advance in my career within the Geographic Information Systems sector. I am frustrated at this point because I have literally had to move across the country several times to get more specialized experience within various aspects of the industry, but it has not led to better opportunities. Due to rapid technological advances and the ability to automate so many advanced functions, long-term job growth prospects look dim at best. These are solid mid-level skill positions that combined IT, Engineering, GIS, etc into one larger consolidated package.
I had to move this year to a less than nice city after living in a much higher functioning city. I am still recovering from the culture shock, even though I have previously lived in the city that I am presently residing in.
At this point, I have to put my best foot forward and take additional skills gained in order to move to a place in the future that is a better cultural fit.
