Isaiah 53:10 (NIV) - Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. - The old testament prophet Isaiah wrote this about 700 B.C. He was describing the coming Messiah that was first promised long ago in Genesis 3:15 - (And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”). Isaiah didn't write down his own ideas about the Messiah but wrote words that God had given him, that is why he could write accurately about the Savior. God had given his words to all the prophets (old testament preachers were called prophets) because on their own their words wouldn't mean much (2 Peter 1:20 - Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things). Isaiah knew a Savior was coming but didn't know who it would be. Today we have the new testament and in it we find that Jesus Christ is the Savior that he was expecting and that all people need (Romans 3:23 -for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,) and we can learn everything that we need to know about him. Christ came in the form of a servant and became the only Savior of anyone who will accept him. What About Jesus?
