Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

One Era Officially Ends, But Another Begins

This may sound corny to some of you out there, but it wasn't that long ago that I harbored a few traditions in my postings on the Music forums. One of those traditions involved doing a thing called Friday 3-Fers on the "Free For All" thread, and, previously, on the now-defunct "Anything Goes" thread. It was one post containing three songs by one particular artist (either a solo singer, duet, or group). I would feature different genres and artists periodically throughout a particular Friday on that thread. Mixed with a variety of other posts by fellow City-Data posters, my Friday series had become a staple of "Free For All" each week, off and on, for a run of six years.
With a certain event that's taken place within the last week, you can safely say that Friday 3-Fers will never, ever happen again on the "Free For All".
That's because a new thread had been cooked up by a fellow poster which is entitled, "Triple-Shots (Three-Song Playlists)". Guess you could say it's another term for 3-Fer, but that's the concept that that poster wanted. So, guess what Ol' Case will be doing from now on? Possibly one to three 3-Fers, various artists and genres, per day. No Friday exclusives anymore. No more Fun Friday. My life has to be open to some other things now, but the old traditions were fun while they lasted. Look, I've got nothing against the new thread; I think it's a marvelous idea whose time is actually overdue.
The only traditions I have left of any consequence on C-D are found on the "Classic Country " thread. Five to six Country Gold four-song-sets each week, usually Monday through Saturday, plus the occasional Cover Songs and the occasional Flip Side posts, where I take a song that was recorded by an artist on the A side of a 45 RPM single and then play its flip side song.
Some traditions were meant to end, I suppose.

It's a great new thread, Case.
I still miss the old days of Free for All, though, but I can see that the future will sure be a lot different. Your posts have meant so much to a lot of people, more than you realize.Posted 10-12-2015 at 12:01 PM by malfunction
