Fear for the end, still missing a friend

It's a terrible thing to live in fear
Heightened alert, side, front, and rear.
To want that return to normal
Even when the result will be a quick final.
When those who profess love
Are to busy.
Resulting in thoughts
Very unhealthy.
And that one voice, or text
That is needed most.
Has since left,
Not a peep, from coast to coast.
Maybe she isn't for me;
Some birds are meant to fly free.
However I know this, from beginning to end.
Even without the passion,
I still miss my friend.
