Some would say, the root of all evil
One of the seven deadly sins, pride.
Others may legitimately disagree
Opinions are individual, take in stride.
Only for me, on this I'll speak
Pride is destructive, makes me weak.
There is a difference in self view
Ascertain the difference, aloof but to few.
Pride vs self respect caught in tug of war
Too much of Pride leads to arrogance for sure.
Not enough self respect, on the other hand
Can lead to doubt, bad habits, confusion.
So where is the balance, where does it hide?
For that one must truly look inside.
Comfortable indeed, in ones own skin
Yet always striving for better, for self and kin.
After much thought, it boils down to choice
Even the language used, indicative in voice.
Pride will destroy, based off false premise in the soul
Self respect will heal, for its acceptance of good and bad, the whole
