One Last Time
Saturday afternoon I went to Heights Park for one last time. I took a lot of photos, looked around, and even climbed inside the rocket slide. Yes, me a grown woman climbed in that thing. I knew the equipment was going to be removed this week, and the city of Richardson wasted no time. First thing this morning they started work. Seeing the old slide all wrapped in yellow caution tape was sad. I was one of the last people to play on it ![Smile](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If only that slide could talk. Three generations of kids running, playing, laughing, and smiling. Fashions have come and gone. The original children who played there are now in middle age. The very social fabric of our nation has changed. Yet through it all the playground survived.
Richardson had its own ups and downs during those decades. From sought after post war suburb, to fading star, and for a few short years the center of a technological boom. Still staying vibrant though for an "inner ring" suburb.

Bummer. At least you have the memories and the pictures. Glad you got to play one last time...
