Some days it's easy, at least for me,
Staying sober is a matter of staying busy.
I know my triggers are time and funds,
In between contracts, the brain goes asunder.
One can only workout so much in a day,
Clean, volunteer, and healthy communicate.
That leaves time, all alone
Bills Are paid, this mind will roam.
Ultimately to a dark place
No matter the physical activity
The disease will replace.
Common sense, willpower are no defense
The alcoholic mind never makes sense.
So stay busy, eat healthy-exercise,
Be honest forthright, no compromise.
The compromise of honesty is potent
Allows the return, restless, irritable, discontent.
One last note, to keep triggers at bay
Something to remember, everyday.
Acceptance of who, and what I am,
All sides of me, acceptance I can.
