4 reasons to start drinking tea

Posted 07-20-2015 at 07:40 AM by DavidRaonic

Tea is quickly becoming the new coffee with specialty tea shops growing at a rapid pace. With its many benefits for you and for the world it's no wonder many consumers are switching over from their classic cup of joe to the one of the unlimited varieties of tea. To some, coffee is an absolute essential to start and even end their day, but here are some reasons to consider steeping instead of brewing:

Hydration. While caffeine can be dehydrating tea acts as a hydration source for the body which can increase energy and relieve fatigue. It replenishes needed fluids which can even have fantastic results for your skin.

Antioxidants. Containing a range of antioxidants, tea can keep you looking fresh, and feeling great. These antioxidants can help reduce the signs of aging and kill bacteria to maintain a healthy immune system.

Unity. Tea brings people together. There is simply no problem or crisis that can't be solved over a cup of tea. Amnesty International is proving that with their national campaign called Amnestea which encourages people to gather a few friends, brew a pot of tea, bake a cake and raise money to fight human rights abuses around the world. That, in essence, is Amnestea.

“More and more of these parties are being held all over the world,” says Hala Al-Madi, who works at Amnesty's Canadian head office. “People are finding them fun, simple and very flexible. The parties can be big or small, elaborate or intimate. Just set yourself a fundraising target, invite guests and raise money through donations for tea and cake, or tea and sandwiches.”

Strength. Building strong and healthy bones is one of the many benefits that tea provides. The amino acids that tea inherently has can help form proteins in the body to build muscle, bone, skin and hair.
