Canadians can be proud of food safety

Posted 05-13-2015 at 06:49 AM by info4yourlife2015

Canada ranks first in food safety performance, according to the 2014 World Ranking Food Safety Performance report from the Conference Board of Canada.

The comprehensive analysis and report evaluated food safety using 10 indicators organized in three risk governance domains. Based on the performance metric benchmarks assessed in the study, Canada ranked first, with Ireland and France also earning high grades for food safety performance.

With today's global economy, food products from around the world are lining the shelves of our local retailers. The report shows that the products grown and manufactured in Canada are produced to the highest standards.

Bee Maid Honey, for example, is a Canadian honey co-op, in which the product is 100% supplied by its owner beekeepers.

“As the producers and packers of pure Canadian honey for over 60 years, we have always known that our beekeepers adhere to strict food safety standards,” says Guy Chartier, CEO at Bee Maid Honey. “It is heartening to know that the entire Canadian food industry is also getting high marks for food safety.”

This means that today, purchasing local food is a better choice than ever.
