Trouble Trouble Everywhere

1 Peter 4:12-13 (NIV) - Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. We all have troubles from time to time, and when we do it is natural to think that God doesn't care about us or that he isn't even there. Why would a loving God permit bad things to happen to his followers? That is probably the most asked question by Christians all over the world, and probably always has been. I feel the same way sometimes, and often wonder why God permits suffering, but then I consider the words of Isaiah 55:8 - “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. - and other places in the Bible that say similar things. When I think my troubles, I always think of Paul whom God chose to be an apostle and who wrote much of the new testament. I don't fully understand why, but Paul had all kinds of trouble while serving God. In Romans 8:36 he quoted Psalm 44:22 - (Yet for your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered) - to give his readers an idea of some of his problems. The old testament man Job also spoke of trouble from God in Job 2:10 - ....Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”.... -. Even in the face of serious troubles Job remained faithful to God. My point is that it's a misconception to think that Christians will never have problems. Christ said in Matthew 6:34 - Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. - Just like anyone we're going to have troubles, sometimes a boatload of them and we're told not to be surprised and rejoice in them. That sounds dumb, but that's what we're told in 1 Peter 4:13, and we should remember that God's ways are not the same as ours, and I'm glad they're not. God came up with the plan for our salvation by sending his own Son Jesus to be the sacrifice for our sins and redeem us to himself. I doubt if any of us would do that. Troubles will always be here and as difficult as it is for us, we should remember they may be a blessing from God. What About Jesus?
