Thoughts on posting

Posted 03-05-2015 at 09:22 PM by jertheber

Throughout the time I've been posting on CD there have been several times where the conversation gets rough around the edges and people tend to get riled up over the notion that others don't always agree with them.

I'm guessing that a lot of the dissension here is the result of a terrific lacking in understanding of the core issues we face as Americans. No matter the subject line it always ends up as a political rant from the usual suspects on CD.

I'll probably get a better day out of posting on the less political forums, and have less flack from those who fail to do the reading required to actually have an informed opinion.

Some have actually posted every day just to increase their numbers I guess, having nothing to add doesn't really bother them they just want to post, something, anything...

    Pictures / Blog

I really enjoyed the pictures of Mt. Hood.... gorgeous. It's an area I'll probably never get to see for real, so pics mean a lot.

Your blog about posting/posters.... When I joined a few yrs ago, I was pretty naive and bumbled into discussions I should not have. There were several posters who are very smart about finances and when I asked a question and got a reply, I often did not understand it, took it personally (stupid, I know), and argued back, which did not win me any friends. And I don't blame them as I think back to how I reacted.

I'm in the low income bracket and recently went bankrupt (not finalized yet) due to very high debt that I was trying to pay down for 20+ years, but never got to first base doing that. So I was already sensitive to criticism and people assuming my debt was due to careless spending.

I had a couple of people who helped me through the mental part of it, they are kind and generous in their advice and understanding, and I'm a lot calmer now.

Sorry so long. Might have already lost you.
