Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Lubbock Could Use Some Innovation For Road Ads
Posted 01-17-2015 at 08:24 AM by case44
From the past experiences I've had in driving through, in, and around Lubbock, I had noticed something in the freeway system that was missing, and it's the kind of thing you would normally see in the big city.
Billboards.
Unless my eyes were deceiving me, I don't recall seeing any billboards on any of Lubbock's three freeways in their arterial (though I did spot some smaller, older billboards on East U.S. Highway 82 between East Lubbock and Idalou, but a few of them have since been taken down). And if they do, there aren't very many. Nevertheless, since all other Texas cities have come up a new kind of billboard advertising, it's high time that the Hub City implement this idea: Electronic billboards. One billboard employing several rotating ads. Why not in Lubbock?
How can anyone not advertise in the Hub City?
Opportunities in this place are golden.
They could put one in several strategic locations throughout town, and they won't be eyesores, either. I can see how a traditional billboard can, over time, suffer cases of wear and tear. Electronic billboards are more visible and are built to last. Imagine if you were a Lubbock business wanting to be seen and visited, wouldn't you want to run an ad on a local freeway? Admit it, you do. You'll want to sell your thing on a local billboard and I guarantee you good results, or my username isn't whatever my username is.
It's also a step into the future all at the same time.
Come on, Lubbock. Go electronic. Step ahead of everyone. You can do it!![OK](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/oglvvd.gif)
