Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Case's Christmas Wishes And More For 2014

Posted 12-23-2014 at 06:45 PM by case44

While someone named Claus is preparing his sleigh for his journey around the world tomorrow, you and I have much to look forward to as another Christmas time approaches. We can all sit back and listen to some Vince Guaraldi music and witness Charlie Brown and the gang all skating around, all the while all of you are putting the finishing touches on your holiday gift-wrapping.

This is the place to be right now, you hanging out at the old computer campfire with Jolly Old St Case. Ain't it great to be alive on City-Data?

Here, now, is a list I'm making of some Christmas wishes for this season.

To all my C-D friends: Health, wealth, and joy for this Christmas, and all through this next year.

To the Houston Astros: A newfound winning atmosphere in the clubhouse and contention in the American League West.

To the ones who have lost family members: An abundance of other family members or friends who will surround you..........with love.

To all the children who are starving: More meals for the season and beyond. May many folks come by and assist you in any way possible. My supermarket's helping out in a big way. You deserve a good meal and a lot of folks are in the season of giving.

To all of the travelers out there: Safety in all your road or air endeavors. Drive carefully. If you're flying, I hope every flight is on time and the wait times are short.

To the Dallas Cowboys: More than just one playoff win this season. Heck, how about a Super Bowl berth and subsequent win??

To all Americans: Protection from our enemies and a strong security on all our borders.

To Charlie Brown: Lucy finally falling asleep at the football so you can, at long last, kick the elusive pigskin into the air!

To the Houston Texans: An end to this curse they're in. Just one time, stay healthy, focused, and win an AFC South title in the next year and prove to the NFL that you can win.

To the Krispy Kreme donut chain: New locations and renewed success, both in Texas and across America.

To Jimmy Johnson: More hairspray to keep every strand in place during the FOX NFL pre-game shows.

To my mother: Seventy-nine additional years to live on God's great Earth and a greener, prettier flower bed in the backyard.

To Barack Hussein Obama: A lifetime supply of truth serum, impeachment hearings, a repentant heart, and a court date.

To the Wakeland Wolverines: Winning seasons in all sports and, hopefully, deeper playoff football in 2015, including an outright district championship.

To our police officers and firefighters: Fewer crime scenes (Yeah, I know. But we can dream...), far fewer fires, and a wealth of health and safety for the coming year. We can't thank you enough for serving us.

To the men and women in our Armed Forces: Protection from harm and victory against those who are against us. Thank you, folks, for serving my beloved America in such a great way. What a sacrifice! You don't get near the appreciation you deserve. If I had all the money in the world, I would buy each and every one of you dinner. And breakfast. And lunch.

All year long.

And, last of all, my wish for all of you is a joyous Christmas holiday chock-full of magic, followed by a prosperous New Year in 2015!
