Why is it that we like the obscure passages?

All the major denominations have social statements about some of the big issues of modern living. It may be about war, the family, public health and vocations as here I will quote a few lines from the Lutheran's position on vocation.
" Vocations are also multiple. (8) Any given person has many vocations. A typical man might be, simultaneously, a husband (serving his wife), a father (serving his children), a son (serving his still-living parents), an employer (serving his workers), an employee (serving his bosses), a citizen (serving his country)." As you can see this is well thought out and comes from their best spiritual leaders and thinkers. Yet these declarations seldom get to the pulpit and beyond. They deserve regular and repeated attention. When you think about it Jeremiah or Haggai didn't have this kind of counsel or overview of their situation.
For instance when Jeremiah wrote, " I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north." Jer. 1:13, we have trouble figuring that one out but the vocation statement is pretty straight forward. However the vocation statement calls for responsibility on several levels; so maybe that is the reason we keep them buried.
