Snowpiercer (2013)
#4 for 2014
I list Snowpiercer in my 2014 list because of it's 2014 U.S. theatrical release. I've since seen several of Bong Joon-Ho's films since: Shaking Tokyo, his short in the three segment film Tokyo! (2008), The Host (2006) (stars Song Kang-ho, who plays the security expert in Snowpiercer), and Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000) - all winners. This also completes a trio of films with Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Only Lovers Left Alive - all in my top 10 for the year... impressive). Watched it twice, second viewing of the Netflix dvd with the excellent commentary turned on - with Scott Weinberg (Geek Nation), James Rocchi (MSN Movies), William Goss (Austin Chronicle), Drew McWeeny (HitFix), Jennifer Yamato (Deadline), Peter S. Hall (Movies.com). Interesting commentary point #15 from the article link: "The film made a combined $8 million in US theaters and on VOD, but it made ten times that on the international market."
