I and my husband are looking at relocating, We are looking at Chattanooga, Tn, Baltimore, Maryland, and a few cities in North Carolina. We have lived in Huntsville, Al most of our adult lives, but we are looking to start a family and looking for a change. The things we are looking for in an area are a family friendly city, with lots of festivals and activities, culturally diverse, open minded place, a great place to raise a family, a place with lots of opportunity for both adults and kids, a place where being around open minded people is not far and few in between, where there is a lower/ more affordable cost of living, and the wages are more than minimum wage. While I know that Baltimore, Md is not exactly family friendly to me. I love that there is lots of opportunity and lots of diversity, and there is always something to do. The location is great it about 30 minutes from Virginia and DC. I started looking at North Carolina, because we thought about a place that is closer to up north where most of our family is, and that was outside of the south, North Carolina, seems to have a lot to offer for all walks of life, but with every city being suited for a different walk of life, I am not sure where to start. Out of all the places we have looked Chattanooga, Tn, is different the people there were so friendly, there was lots going on in the city, games, festivals, and just lots of families out having a good time. All this time here in the south we have never experienced any southern hospitality except when we went to Chattanooga, We will also consider other areas in Tennessee. We work really hard I have almost 8 years of experience of caring for and working with the elderly and my husband is an Assistant Manager at a retail store, so we are not exactly rolling in the big bucks. And want to find a place where the cost of living is lower or equal to here, for example one set of my in laws just moved here from New York, while the cost of living as far as apartments and houses are lower, they are really surprised that grocery and etc. are so much higher. We just feel it is time to find a place where we can call home and start our family.
