Not A Promising Job

I once took a job with this guy who sold used cars, I started out working on them but spent a lot of my time going with the tow truck driver to pick up the junkers. One night we had to go to East St.Louis to fetch an LTD that the guy stopped payment on. It wasn't at his house but we found that he hid it behind a building. As we were hooking it up, a cop drove by slow and stared at us, the guy I was with then told me to do the driving. I asked him why and he said he didn't have a valid license and that there might be a warrant out for him. He then said, " Oh..I also don't have a permit for the gun under the seat. " I quickly looked under there and saw the smallest sawed off shotgun I ever saw. I told him a permit wouldn't do him any good anyway because that gun was illegal. I got my weeks pay the next day and never went back to that job. I remember reading in the newspaper a year later that those guys got sent to prison for some kind of auto theft racket.
