This blog is basically to chart my progress in trying to lose weight...

This is a Record of my daily events including my family when appropriate for my other family members to see if they choose to.

This is my legacy, for my family to read after I am dead and burried. So, any thing on here is meant for them only and if it offends anyone, my apologies, but, its not meant for you and them

Chow for now...

May the LORD Bless all who see this.

I wish you well...

Vacation Bible School

Posted 06-22-2014 at 11:05 AM by woodworkingmenace

Tonight starts Vacation Bible School. My Wife finally got some donations from people in the church, so, I have to do more crafts.

Instead of four classes, they are giving my Wife, five classes to do craft in now..sheesh!
I sure hope we have enough stuff made up, or some kids maybe left out, and that would be a shame.

I knew we should of started in January, making stuff, but, they kept him-hawing around, saying they weren't going to have it, or, didn't know if they were going to do it, and, that left the last moment to get anything done! Really burns my shorts... Had me cussing, while making all those crafts in a hurry, cause I hate to be rushed about anything...

Helped my Son clean his SKS last night.
Stripped it down and soaked everything in mineral spirits, (except the stock).
It even had the original sling on it, and the leather thong holding the sling was in great shape, for being over 80 years old!
Everything was in cosmoline, so, well preserved.

Hardest part, was taking the pin out of the bolt, to clean all that up.
Then putting the receiver group back in, because we didn't know that you had to put the safety on first, then, you could put it in.
We were even beating it with a hammer, trying to get that thing back on! sheesh LOL.

We did take the mag that came with the rifle, off, and now he can put on a banana clip, thirty rounds for it. Plus, he still has the bayonet on the thing. (You ought to have seen me around that thing, when he had it out, and moving it around, I wouldn't get near the thing, and he knew it, so, he finally folded it out of the way, and I started to help him again with the rifle.

Son got a headache from the mineral spirits, even though, it was low VOC... and you couldn't really 'smell' the thing, unless you were up close to it. Plus, we put plastic over it, while we were soaking it, and kept the smell in the 'pit' we created on the table, (yea, Wife didn't like that one, but, she allowed it, since it was a Saturday, and meals are not as strict as on the weekdays, when everyone is coming home from working, and meals have to be on the table at regulated times).
We soaked the parts for four hours, and had lots of cosmoline come out of the parts, then wiped them down and oiled them all up.

That, with 1000 rounds of ammunition, and he is good to go now

Next week, we will work on the Mosem Miguant, if we have the space on the table and the time and will to do it. It has more cosmoline on it, as the entire barrel is plugged! sheesh!!! I may have him soak that one for 24 hours downstairs on the workbench, and, who knows, we may let it soak for a couple of days... if we don't feel like getting to it right away LOL.

I wish you well....
