This is the true continuing saga of my escape from California. While California is a beautiful, unique place, it is wrought with political turmoil, over-taxation and ridiculous laws. We want to be free.
So we have arranged to move to the lovely Oregon Coast area. And build and run an antique store. To enjoy life in a leisurely fashion.
This is my story.

My Friends

When we move to Oregon, I will miss our friends.
My friend with whom I chat about children, men, black and white.
The wonderful neighbors to the north, the ones who bought one horse from us and we included another one free! It was a screaming deal, and I am on call 24/7 for horsey advice.
Then there's the people across the street. They are lovely, talented and social and have a beautiful daughter. They moved here from the suburbs and don't care for guns. Their next door neighbor is the town animal slaughterer. Gunshots can be heard sometimes...I'm sorry they have to listen to that.
The folks to the south have apple orchards and always have an apple or two for the horses and boxes of windfalls for the goats.
My friend who has goats and mustangs will be missed. She and her hubby are our swap meet pals.
Then there's the eclectic souls who lurk in our small town. The guy with the wolf...he got his teeth sharpened to be a wolf, too. And the amazing bee man...89 years young and still collecting errant bee swarms. He removed a swarm from a ripped tire on one of our trailers. Then he brought us honey.
I'll miss the man who collects dogs. He really collects dogs. Any and all strays he finds, he keeps. Last year Animal Control removed 60-70 dogs from his property.
The ranchers down the way that breed Morgan horses...there is no one kinder, to animals or people.
The tweekers with no car or drivers license, walking, walking everywhere, seeking just one more aluminum can for the recycler.
There are many more. And then there are the evil ones...those I won't miss, but I will never forget.
Oregon is an opportunity to meet new people and I'm looking forward to that!
