hunterseat df: Hunter Seat Equitation is a division that is judged on the ability and the style of the rider. The riders can be judged both over fences and on the flat.

Although true, hunters DO eat, at least the skilled ones do, my name derives from the world of horses.

And because the word hunter is in my name, people automatically think I'm a guy. Not even close.

Whenever I meet someone named Hunter I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying "That's my name, too!"

Flower Therapy

Yesterday was Friday. The end of a stress-filled, unusually scheduled week. I was SO glad to have it mostly behind me. Now to get home and relax. 3 miles from my home the traffic stopped. Uh-oh. Okay, it was inching along. I can do inching along if it's only 3 miles worth of inches. I was feeling smug, anticipating the moment I'd hit the turn lane and leave all the other inching motorists behind... in just a few minutes....NOOOOOO! When I got towards the "front of the line" I realized the emergency responders were turning people back. THE.ROAD.WAS.CLOSED.
Think think think... if I had my running shoes on I could park and run home from here. if
I know! I'll call Jeff and see if he thinks I should park, walk past the emergency and he can pick me up. "What?! I'm busy trying to finish this estimate!"
I took my turn in swinging around, the vehicular about-face, with everyone else. It didn't help a bit that I wasn't in it alone. Not a bit. I was ticked and thinking bad things about a lot of people who didn't deserve it. (sorry, people stuck on L'ville Hwy yesterday)
The alternate route was already backing up and I felt like I was going to explode if I had to sit in traffic another minute.
*insert angel singing voices here* The bright orange sign of the local home improvement store loomed ahead. I had a clear shot to the parking lot. FLOWERS! yesssss! I needed flowers! I needed them right then! I parked and browsed. I found my grandma's coleus, my geraniums, and all my bloom-all-summer favorites. I was very selective in my decisions, having plenty of time. I made one impulse buy and a few well thought out ones. How calming the fragrance of those tables and tables of blooms. I was humming to myself as I loaded my little flower babies into the car.
Traffic wasn't perfect but I was able to use my navigator (forgive me for holding my phone as I drove) and I got home without too much further delay. Even though I left my apple juice on the gas pump I wasn't going to let that spoil my mood.
Arriving home the neighbor girls gravitated towards my porch. Don't all girls love flowers? We worked together and got them planted.
By the way, the estimate was completed, dogs fed and walked while I practiced flower therapy. Smart move, big guy!
My week ended on an excellent note after all.
