Mother Was Wrong

Posted 05-02-2014 at 09:29 AM by Fortoggie

Well mother was wrong! Wrong when she said that people knew the price of everything and the value of nothing. Today's paper said it cost the tax payers, $ 23,000.00 to provide security and keep the peace at last Sat's. neo-Nazis gathering in Chattanooga. Who knew? Who knows how much it cost the city of Boston to provide security for the big marathon? After the big flood in Fl., who knows how much it will cost that state to rebuild?
At the same time how do we calculate all the wages and/or profits that have been paid or will be paid to serve the common good? Chains like Home Depot and Lowe's must have made billions over the years selling materials to rebuild after the many, many storms, fires and floods.
One hates to think about it in these terms but the natural disasters have created thousands of jobs and made millionaires out of some.
