Monday ~~ March 24, 2014 ~~ I did a wee bit of shopping today...

Posted 03-24-2014 at 07:06 PM by CSD610

I am not a big shopper so for me to go shopping means we need something or I really just want something. It also means my husband and I have talked about this want and decided it was something that we would like to do so when I come across the item I will make the purchase.

This particular item is a chair, not a special chair just a chair. I'll have to digress a bit though so you understand why a chair became a want.
We live in a smaller home which is fine we both like it but there is a challenge to a smaller home when it comes to furnishing and placement of said furnishing. We have a front porch that is enclosed with windows that open and have screens in them. This is where the computer is so when I put my location as "The Front Porch" I am not kidding.
This area has also had his desk in it but he never used it and I really wanted to make the front porch more of an actual front porch. So I took both of our desks off of the front porch, put a smaller white tile top kitchen table for the computer. I have a printer stand, a shredder, 4 comfortable chairs a tea table with a lamp on it and a small filing cabinet (that is being sold in the garage sale). So the biggest part of the front porch is now a "sitting area" to visit, relax and not be on the computer.

When I moved 2 of the chairs out to the porch I took them from the house proper, one of those chairs being in the living room and the other being in our bedroom. You would think in a smaller home this would not be an issue however, it did become an issue. The reason it became an issue is I have our bed on wooden risers so we cannot sit on the bed to put on shoes and socks and that is why we had the chair in the bedroom. So I needed a chair to replace that chair. The other chair came from the living room and when I moved it the whole balance of the room was just thrown off so I wanted a replacement chair there.

Now that you are caught up I will continue with today's shopping adventure. I had to be out to pay a repair bill for one of my trucks and to get something in the mail. While out I also had to go to the bank. While on the way to the bank after I put the piece of mail in the outside mail box and paid the repair bill I decided last minute to pull into the Resale Shop that is on the way to the bank. It is a small shop with lots of things in it but not over stuffed so you cannot see anything or walk around. Just a lot of stuff and it has all been cleaned up and is in very good shape with very good prices. So I go in, look around and in less than 10 minutes I purchased 3 chairs, 2 pillows and 1 couch, all for $103.80 (tax included).

Crazy I know and we have no need for 3 chairs, 2 pillows and 1 couch but I bought them. Now I have to get them home, then I have to get them placed somewhere in this house but I think I have that issue solved for the most part.

Two of the chairs are going in our bedroom, they are a set and a beautiful shade of green so they will look great in our bedroom and match the linens and curtains just fine. The couch I have a place for as well since I moved the one chair to the porch, the other chair in the living room went in place of the moved chair so I have one wall that is open. The couch should fit there quite well. The third chair is going in our storage container/workshop because it does need a wee bit of repair before it can be used but for $5.00 I thought it was a good deal.

I get those items picked out and tell her I will be back in a few minutes to pay her. I go on to the bank and get that business taken care of. Then I go to the ATM and take out enough cash to pay for the furniture (different bank that is not local) and I go back to the shop and pay for the furniture. All is well and good except my husband is not home currently so I call my neighbor and ask if I can borrow him and his pickup truck tomorrow to go and get this furniture picked up. He agrees to help me and that is set for when he feels like going tomorrow.

After that I have to go into town, well the next big town and pick up something I had to order from Staples and stop at the grocery. Then all of my out of the house errands will be done for this week and probably next week and I can get things put into the vehicle for my out of state trip leaving Wednesday morning and coming home Thursday.

The other exciting news from the weekend is that I am now the proud owner of a donut cutter that the middle comes out of and can be used as a biscuit cutter or to cut only donut holes and not the entire donut....yay me...LOL

So in closing today's words of my written thoughts I will leave you to ponder this:

How much furniture do you need?
How much do you have?
Have you been shopping for one particular item and ended up with five items?
Do you like donuts?
What is your favorite donut?
Do you make your own donuts?
What is your favorite jello?

As usual I wish you all you deserve in your lifetime. Rest well and peaceful dreams when it comes time for you to wander your timbers of slumber.
