Friday ~~ March 21, 2014 ~~ Today is the first day of spring and...

It is a beautiful day, the sun is out, sky is clear, a wee bit of a breeze and today is also the day my Parents got married in 1959; thank goodness their marriage did not last at all. They have been divorced since 1971 which means they were married much too long and he died 12 years ago which means he lived much too long. That is another story in and of itself that no one really wants to read about. So, moving on....

I have not felt well the last two days but today I feel much better so I've got a few things done around the house and I made butter. It took about 30 minutes or so total for the KitchenAid to whip the whipping cream into butter then I had to press out the remainder of the buttermilk which I did.
I also found a good second use for my cast iron tortilla press, smushing the remaining buttermilk out of fresh made butter and the butter is delicious. I do not see myself going back to purchasing butter again at the grocery anytime soon.

Other than that this week has been filled with moving furniture (which is my hobby if you haven't read any of the previous blogs), chasing my cats through the house trying to get the dead mouse away from them. Yes a real live but dead mouse that Suze caught in the basement and brought upstairs to share with Cailleach. The biggest issue is that I am deathly afraid of mice and the dead ones completely gross me out. I had to get it away from them though before they ate the danged thing and left guts on the carpet. I did manage to get the mouse away from them and I did finally get it out the back door and onto the back porch where I left it. My neighbor was going to come over the next morning and get it picked up but some other critter came along overnight and took it away for me. A nice treat for them I'm sure but ....
GAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally finished one of the challenges I had been working on at the game site I go to and I am glad to be done with that. I almost have every room in the house arranged the way I want it. I do have all of the laundry washed, dried and folded but I have not put it away yet.
Since I had most of our clothes in the laundry to be washed now is a good time to get them sorted out and get rid of things we no longer need, wear, want or don't fit. We have the first summer garage sale coming up in May so all of the clothing will be put in the garage sale first.
Anything that does not sell will be donated.

I am going to go visit our daughter, son in law and grandsons Wednesday and I hope to see my Mother and Brother as well but I'm not sure I will have the physical stamina to do both. I will spend a couple hours with the grandsons, visit with our daughter and son in law then head to my Mother's and try to catch up with her. I will be getting a room somewhere because there is no way I will be able to drive 12 hours and visit everyone in one day. I used to be able to do that but since this illness hit I cannot drive an hour some days let alone 12.

Beyond what I have listed above there really is not much going on around here. I have not been on the forum as much as usual but when I feel well I am doing other things and not sitting in front of the computer. I sat down and wrote in my journal for a bit yesterday and I haven't done that in a couple months. I've been printing a lot of photos lately and I have to get the kitchen and dining room floor swept and mopped for the third day in a row. Our Walter (dog) loves to go running around out on the property and this time of year he always has wet, muddy paws which means I always have big paw prints of mud through the kitchen and dining room.
No big deal though, I let the mud dry, sweep it up, run the mop over the floors right quick and it's done until tomorrow.

I guess I will leave you with a somewhat short blog today, unfortunately I am getting tired and I need to lay down for a wee bit.

In parting I will leave you with a few things to ponder if you choose to:

Do you like plain popcorn or flavored with something outside of butter and salt?
Do you write in a journal?
Do you use pen and paper for your journal or do you write electronically?
Is there something that you make yourself at home instead of purchasing at the grocery?
If it cost a bit more to make at home do you still make it?

The end of my thoughts has almost passed, the time has come for those thoughts to nap.
I wish you all you deserve in your lifetime.
I also wish you restful sleep and peaceful dreams when it comes time for you to wander your timbers of slumber.
