Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Apartment Repair Follies: Can We Just Get It Right?

Posted 03-18-2014 at 04:53 PM by case44

Early last week, it was my toilet (Wouldn't flush).

Late last week, it again was my toilet (Same thing happened again).

Over the weekend, it was the breezeway lights (They were dark at night after thunderstorms hit the area).

This week, it was my bathroom sink (Hot water knob switch would not turn).

Things just needed to be fixed around the Case abode, and maintenance would come to the rescue each time and fix the problem. A few years ago, I would have to wait a day or two for the folks to arrive, but lately, they've gotten quicker and, in my opinion, better. Oh, the folly of living in an apartment. Yes, I still dream about making a Spanish villa my home, and how I would like to custom design it, and be able to make my dream house all to my specification just as I would....

Back to the apartment now.

The follies would not end once my bathroom sink had new fixtures inserted yesterday. You see, this morning, I took a shower and, lo and behold, my hot water was missing. Ol' Case's bare nipples got harder than they needed to be under the spritz of the falling (slightly cool) water. Wait a minute, those guys got everything fixed yesterday and everything is supposed to be running top notch. So, a call was made to the office for a work order...........

.......when the lady told me that the workers yesterday forgot to flip the breaker switch to the water heater to the on position! That's right; it had been left off.

Man, if we could just get things done the right away the first time with me trying to figure as few things out as possible.

Now I'm going to need a new shower head. I'll find out soon enough what really might happen.
