Will a PRIVATE Landlord Rent to us? {{Charlotte, NC}}

Hello All,
This message is for anyone who can help me with a situation we are having in regards to relocating to Charlotte, NC. Here is the background for my Hubs and I...
We were both laid off from our jobs in 2013 & early this year 2014. We had an unfortunate series of events with our home which lead us to file bankruptcy {{Still Pending}}on our debt and home we have here in Chicago.
Since we have savings $18,000 between the two of us we decided to relocate to Charlotte, NC with our 2 sons and start over. We figured since we had enough money to pay up our rent for the entire lease term or a few months we would find an apartment first, get down there and look for work. He has certifications and is in the IT field and I am a certified Life Coach with customer service experience and we have already started looking for employment down there. He is working a part time job here in Chicago so we have extra $$$ to live off of so we won't have to spend our savings.
We came to visit Charlotte this past week and fell in love with the beautiful city and fabulous schools there.
It doesn't seem as simple to get an apartment there even if you pay for the lease term or a few months in advance. Many apartment managers want to see employment even if you have $$$ to spare.
We plan to relocate in June 2014. Are there any private landlords we could work with? Agency? can someone direct us to the correct person?
Any advice given is also welcomed! Thanks!![Smile](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Our credit is not perfect, we have challenges. It is on there until our bankruptcy goes through, we are filing a Chapter 7. We do not have backgrounds at all and our children are straight A honor students.Posted 03-13-2014 at 08:12 AM by Chicago2NC -

I am sorry you are going through this situation. I would
explain to a property manager exactly what you said in your blog. Having $18,000 shows that you can save and not blow every dollar in sight. By law a landlord can not accept all the lease money up front. You could give maybe six months. Your husband has certifications in IT.
There may be more openings in NC for him. I wish you
the best. Remember...there is no growth without change!!Posted 03-16-2014 at 01:41 PM by 4EverSpring
