Too tired

Posted 03-12-2014 at 08:29 PM by nooshb

I've been too tired the past couple of nights as I've had trouble falling asleep and the fact that I need to get up early every morning for my son. Why do the kids have to be in school so early?? My son has trouble getting up every morning even though I'm very strict with his sleep time which is 930pm. What purpose is there to have kids at school at 740? Is it for teachers to get out early? I don't know the answer but it does not make sense to me at all. To have kids all tired and sleepy serves no purpose.

    Time change? You know with the clocks moving up one hour throws many of us off. I am feeling it myself.
    I had 9 hours of sleep on my day off....still tired.
    My work-out schedule had to be changed. They need
    to leave these clocks alone. Pink last year called the
    clock change "just plain rude". : }

    I totally agree. It took me a few days to get used to it and the mornings are too dark!! They should at least take a referendum or something!

    Parents have to get children to school early so they can arrive on time for work.
    That time is only too early and kids sleepy if you are disorganized and have not established a good bedtime pattern for them.
    Following this good routine from an early age establishes good habits that will benefit them through high school, college, a job or other interests they want to pursue.

    Your attitude shows that you are likely not rested or retiring early enough in the evening yourself and sets an example of attitude they are likely to pick up on and adopt themselves, then complain about you, further stressing you out.

    You don't say the age of your child. It's likely 9:30 needs to be earlier. Allowing for time to change clothes. unwind, fall asleep, then dress and have breakfast, he/she is likely not even getting eight hours of sleep which is the adult "requirement". Kids and especially teenagers need even more, especially if their life is hectic, stressed or pursuing many activities.
    An early bedtime for them will allow you to take better care of yourself.
    Healthy eating habits aid the body with making energy and the likelihood all will feel well rested.

    Most people are sleepy for some time upon waking. A shower and exercise plus a good breakfast/diet help a lot.

    Good luck. It's not easy raising kids

    I have tried to make him go to sleep at 830 but he refuses. He's 14 going on 15. I don't think I'm disorganized in the mornings as I have his breakfast ready in about 10-15 mins and it's freshly cooked hot breakfast like pancake, eggs, bacon, etc.
    the problem is at night, he's too awake and alert(no sodas or caffeine for us) and can't sleep too early. I have the same issue. I don't like going to sleep too early!! But I'm working on it! Thanks for your suggestions..
