Arizona to South Dakota

Any Arizona folks now living well in the Black Hills?
We've explored, spent summers in Custer and around nearby and now are ready for a change. We've lived in Tucson, AZ for the last six years, escaped to the Black Hills as much as we can be beat the never-ending heat of the AZ summers and look to settle in the western part of SD. With all considerations, the Hot Springs area appears to fit best - climate, small clean town, not far from Rapid and all the important things one is looking for as a retirement town.
Curious: Any of you folks Tucson AZ or Southern AZ transplants? Would really enjoy offerings about how it's worked out. Don't have to spend time talking about the winter weather as we've lived in heavy snow country in the past, but the transition from the Sonoran desert, the six months of broiling heat has us really searching for a better place to spend our lives and our summer experiences in the Black Hills has so much to offer in living experiences we enjoy.
