Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

From Flurries To Falling Snow, Mother Nature Laughs Loud

Posted 02-06-2014 at 08:40 PM by case44

The forecast was more promising yesterday than it was this morning. That is, if you prefer warmer temps outside. But what about the forecast for today? It once called for flurries. What we got instead in Dallas was a little more than a dusting of a half-inch of new-fallen snow.

Doggie, it's cold out there! Try an early-morning low of 17 degrees. Caution is advised on area lakes.

Oh, I got home okay after the snow fell while at work, and the roads weren't that bad. As a matter of fact, I even did a smidgen of grocery shopping and ventured into Olive Garden, too. Not a big problem. A few driveways have some ice, but overall, nothing to sneeze at. And I have to go in for a little work tomorrow (on my day off, no less), as a co-worker or two will be out. Your favorite blogger has to get some money in his pocket, but that's not important now.

Remember the good ole days when the temps were 70 degrees outside? We'll be at 57 on Saturday and that'll be a welcome sight. It will also be as close as we'll get to 70 because another cold front will be moving through at the beginning of next week. Look, I just want winter to be over so we can all get to longer daylight hours and warmer temperatures. Give me a 60-degree day and this gizzard will be happy. I'll be so happy that my computer will dance around naked.

At least, yours truly did not (thankfully) have to do that outside.

Yeah, we've had a rollercoaster of activity this winter. I'm ready for spring.

I just hate not being on my bicycle.
