Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Old Man Winter Interrupted By Brief Spring Fling
Posted 01-11-2014 at 04:37 PM by case44
Winters are just plain boring in the state of Texas. So, after a few weeks of bitter cold to cold temperatures, nature decided to blow southerly winds my way. The sun is out............and, lo and behold, it is 68 degrees. ![OK](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/oglvvd.gif)
It goes to show you that I can't wait for spring to come on and make its presence known. Sure, we still have the Super Bowl and Punxsutawney Phil to make their rounds, but let me just enjoy this incredible spring-like weather here in North Texas. 68 degrees. Perhaps I need to be outside when typing this post.......![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Enjoy this as long as you can, fellow Texans. This should be around at least through this next week. Makes me glad I don't live in Minnesota, where, earlier in the week, the high temps for that period were -15. Ouch!!!!![](http://www.mazeguy.net/bigsmilies/gnashteeth.gif)
Trust me, folks; I feel for the people up yonder who couldn't even get their cars started. Living in the Frost Belt just isn't ideal for this Texan.
I say, just keep me in the Sun Belt. Because that's where the sun is.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

I was in Downtown SA today to run an errand, and I just couldn't resist stopping for lunch on the less-crowded portion of the river. It actually felt warm for a while. My sinuses weren't even bothering me much in spite of the cedar pollen.

It's chilly tonight where I am, but we've had comfortable temperatures in the afternoon. Good bike-riding weather.
