The Concept of Happiness in Islam

Allah Almighty says in the Quran that: “Now surely the friends of Allah, they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve. Those who believe and guarded (against evil): They shall have good news in this world's life and in the hereafter; there is no changing the words of Allah; that is the mighty achievement.” (Noble Qur'an 10:62-64)
Happiness is an emotion that exists in the heart of all the people of the world. Happiness can be described as the peace of mind, and harmony.
Everyone in the world wants to be happy in their lives. It is the basic necessity of people for a peaceful life. Quran is the Holy Book of Allah Almighty which tells about the secret of happiness and how a person attains happiness in his life. According to the teachings of the Quran, it is one of the necessities of the soul. Sometimes, people have everything in their lives such as power, wealth and fame but still they are not happy with all this. The Holy Book of Allah Almighty – Holy Quran provides proper guidelines regarding attaining the happiness both for the body and the soul, both for the life in this world and in the life hereafter.
There are several verses of Holy Quran in which Allah Almighty tells the ways that how a believer can get true happiness in his life being grateful to Allah Almighty. As it is in Holy Quran that: “And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” (Quran, 18:18).
In this world, two type of people exist; one who strive to get materialistic happiness and forgetting about their eternal happiness, whereas some people always work hard to seek eternal happiness by following the teachings of Islam and Quran.
People can get true happiness in their life by obeying Allah Almighty and by following His (Allah Almighty) teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Holy Prophet (PBUH). Those who strive to seek eternal happiness, for them worldly happiness has no value.
Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran that: "Whoever does good whether male or female and he is a believer, We will most certainly make him live a happy life, and We will most certainly give them their reward for the best of what they did." (Noble Qur'an, verse 16:97)
Happiness is such a thing that cannot be bought with money. The Last Messenger of Allah Almighty, Holy Prophet (PBUH) also put stress on this thing that Allah Almighty knows better which thing is good for you and can bring happiness in your life. Allah Almighty explains this in the Holy Quran that: “But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not,” (Qur’an, 2:216)
In the end, one can say that Allah Almighty wants all the people of the world to be happy. And one can achieve true happiness in their life by following the commands of the Allah Almighty and the teachings of the Quran.
