Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Breakfast Is Still The Most Important Meal Of My Day
Posted 12-02-2013 at 05:57 PM by case44
Going to work for five days a week, it's always important for me to get something to keep my strength up for the first part of the work day. You might catch me in a Whataburger drive-in line to get a "Breakfast on a Bun" or at J's Donuts in Coppell, Texas, grabbing a few of their sausage kolaches or mini-cinnamon rolls. Oh, I sometimes cook at home or get something into the microwave from time to time, but what I look forward to are my two off-days. ![Cool](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif)
Usually on Friday and Saturday, I might be out and about tasting some great breakfast food at some sit-down place near my abode. Like many folks, I have favorites. You may already know about Cracker Barrel, and you know there's likely one near you, but I often go to places that our locals love gathering at. Some weeks, it's the Old West Café, located in Grapevine, Texas, about a half-mile from their famous downtown strip. They have great traditional and Texas breakfast favorites, along with plentiful breakfast tacos and burritos (the latter items are lower-priced but still have big portions). Their biscuits are good with sausage gravy, but, unfortunately, not by themselves. They also have great dinner choices such as chicken-fried chicken, but be warned: They're only open for breakfast and lunch (five North Texas locations, all in the northern suburbs of Dallas-Fort Worth).
Other places I visit include Norma's Café in Frisco (three Dallas locations), The Original Pancake House (semi-national chain but an overwhelming Dallas-area favorite with big, thick-sliced bacon), and Mama's Daughter's Diner (great dinner choices, reasonable prices, lots of loyal customers). Come on down to Dallas, where there are so many more places to sit down to a great breakfast.
Nothing beats a plate of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns. And if you don't like bacon, well, you just don't like sitting at a window seat inside your favorite place by sunrise.![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Here are some links to the places I've mentioned, plus a few which I haven't (and haven't yet tried, but come anyway!).
