Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

I Missed An Epic Finish Last Night
Posted 11-08-2013 at 02:44 PM by case44
Texas high school football is always a great respite anytime, whether the game at hand is boring or entertaining. Two teams I witnessed on Thursday added to their rivalry history by participating in what ended up being one of the greatest finishes in Frisco Independent School District history. And this writer didn't stick around for it. ![Crying](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/sad4.gif)
I actually thought nothing of it after halftime, but I had to leave in the third quarter of the Wakeland-Liberty game because I was going to be going into work on what's usually a off-day for me. The game was close at the half: Liberty 14, Wakeland 13, with Wakeland favored to win going in. I thought nothing of it because nobody could foresee the events which would eventually transpire, but to that point, it had been a well-fought game. After I'd gotten back home and I was getting ready for bed, I followed the game's progress on the internet, using my local paper's website to find out. To my amazement, the game would eventually go into overtime.
Now, neither team's passing game is sparkling, but they both have had very effective running games all season. It was a great back-and-forth battle between the two teams in two overtimes after they ended regulation tied, 29-29. The dramatic finish came in the second overtime, with Wakeland scoring the first drive on a rushing touchdown, giving them a 43-36 lead in the period. Liberty's next possession also ended with a rushing touchdown, but they tried to execute a two-point conversion (something they'd successfully done earlier), and, lo and behold, ............. it failed.
And the Wakeland Wolverines came out with a victory, 43-42, over the Liberty Redhawks. Pandemonium had to have erupted at Frisco's Toyota Stadium on Wakeland's side of the field. They've already clinched a playoff berth; tonight's remaining district games will help decide whether the Wolverines could win a share of the district title. We shall soon see. If Liberty, which had a losing record, had also been battling for a playoff spot, this game would have been even more epic. Nonetheless, ol' Case missed a lulu of a finish in one of the greatest games ever played in Frisco, Texas.
