For the Weather junkie: How was your weather today?

Posted 07-12-2008 at 08:43 PM by aiangel_writer

It was hot today! One of the most humid and hot days of the year if not the most. It was one of those days where you go outside and wheeze as you are trying to breathe. Yet, it didn't start out that way...

I awakened and made a pot of coffee, took my cut out to the front porch, ready to get my day off to a good start. A slight breeze was blowing and the temp was quite pleasant.

Baa I thought, the weather man had to be wrong today, it was not going to be THAT hot!

Earlier, I had seen the forecast, it said A Super HOt Saturday and a Stormy Sunday. Well, he was just wrong as usual.

A bit after 10, I changed my mind. Already it was mid 90's with a heat index of over 100 and climbing. Add the high humidity to the mix and quite literally, one could not breathe very well.

By 3 P.M. even the most die hard of our town had fled to thier air conditioned homes and the streets were almost deserted.

Even my dh, who is accoustomed to the heat called it quits early, and when he walked into the carport, he was soaking wet, with white stains surrounding his shirt from the salt he had lost. Yup, if it was too hot for him, then it was time to stay inside.

Our temps topped out at 97, but the heat index was around 110. Even now, we are at 85 degrees with heat index of 93 and humidity of 71%.

To the North of us, storms have formed and are moving South. They are not typical daytime heating of the day storms, but from a front that is moving our way.

While we welcome the relief of rain, we can do without the storms. I hope they remain more on the mild side that those of tornadic traits.

How was your weather today?

Apparently I miss alot of blogs...in the words of Robin Williams from good morning vietnam "its hot, hot, ddda** hot". Actually the humidity is what gets you. I know you know what I mean being in MS, it was hot when I was in Southhaven as it was here Friday. Ive decided i need to do one of two things, 1. quit shaving my head, or 2.wear a hat-lol, to keep the sweat outta my eyes..in the words of the old folks here..its so hot you can fry an egg in the shade.
