Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

I-69 Update: Finally, Signs Go Up In Texarkana
Posted 09-28-2013 at 08:41 AM by case44
Well, I can hear the echoes of the people in Northeast Texas: "It's about time!" The landscape of Texarkana's freeway network is changing ever so much more. Interstate 369 has finally made it into the fray and new signs are going up as I write this. And I thought they'd never go up, wondering what transportation officials were waiting for, but there they are. Granted, it is currently just a three-mile stretch, but later on, it will be part of a 118-mile segment from I-30 through the Ark-La-Tex region on down to East Texas and the future I-69 interchange.
Now, if you look at a map, you'll see now that Texarkana is almost completely surrounded by interstates. The loop network now consists of Interstates 30, 49 (unofficial as yet, but very close to happening), and 369, making the town one of the smallest cities in America to be served by as many as three interstate-designated highways.
For now, here's the link with pictures to show you the fanfare and goings-on from the folks at the Texas Transportation Commission and the I-69 Texas Alliance group.

This district still doesn't have much to show for the short new interstate. The feeder roads still don't have the shields and neither do the side-street approaches.
Come on, TXDOT. It's not that much. You can finish this.Posted 09-06-2016 at 04:53 PM by case44
