Well, I have delved further into the world of quilting and I am still learning a lot.
I have officially finished my first quilted piece, it's ugly, it is machine quilted but it is done and I can say I am proud that I started and completed it. The rest will come easily right?
Okay, so technically my second piece is 3/4 done but tomorrow I have got to concentrate on finding my home again.
I know I have actual rooms here somewhere and I have a dining room table, a kitchen, a living room, a floor in the extra bedroom, a bed in the extra bedroom and a few other pieces, places and parts of our home I haven't seen in a week.
I am going to continue with the machine quilting just to keep busy with it and my hand quilting teacher is in Barcelona this week so there is not going to be much if any progress when it comes to the hand quilting arena.
My Mother had surgery today and I was not able to be there. My brother is there though and keeping me updated. So far it is all good news and she is doing fine and I hope it continues and she is able to go home in the next day or so.
Once I get the hand quilting basics down and I have progressed with the actual stitching I will write more about that. Until then though after I get my curtains done, hopefully by this weekend I am going to venture into the brand new world of garment sewing. This should prove to be quite interesting as well. After my quilting bubble has been burst I no longer have any expectations when it comes to sewing other things so I should not be disappointed in what I find within the garment sewing world.
I have been collecting fabric for a few years now with no real idea what I was going to do with it. So now that I know what I am going to do with the fabric I have; I have vowed to not purchase any more fabric until I have used all of the fabric I currently have in our home. I have a lot of fabric but I honestly hope to have it all used by the end of this year.
After that I will be working on two different quilts. These particular quilts are quilts that I have wanted to do since I first decided to I wanted to learn how to do quilts. Actually it is technically three different quilts. I want to do a "dresden", a white on white "whole cloth" and a black on white "whole cloth". The plan is to set up the whole cloth on a quilting frame and work on it while I am cutting and pieceing the dresden. These three quilts will be all hand done from the measuring, cutting, piecing all the way to the quilting and binding. Big dreams for a new quilter but definitely not impossible.
So as I continue my journey into the vast world of quilting and sewing I will continue to write about my experiences and my discoveries. I may even be able to pass along a few tips here and there, who knows.
Anyway, thoughts to ponder if you choose; what new world have entered with big expectations only to be disappointed? Was it work, school, hobby, game, a friendship, a romantic relationship? Disappointment can hit at any moment in regards to anything. I think one's defining moment is how they handle the disappointment. So how did you handle your disappointment? Did you give up or did you continue on? What made you give up? What made you continue on?
Answers to these and many other questions may remain a mystery but the elusive answers may also come at a time when you least expect them, only the Shadow knows for sure.
I wish you the best you deserve in your lifetime and may you have restful dreams as you wander the timbers of slumber when the time comes..........
