It Will Take Years to Cure Blue Collar Woes

Posted 09-18-2013 at 03:07 PM by Fortoggie

By now you have noticed that I have an interest in trying to help the working class get a little better foothold in the economy. Right now we have millions who not only work for low wages, but also get only 20 t0 36 hours per week.
Every Dentist, Doctor and other professionals should see the desirability of the lower classes making more so that they could in effect, become their customers.
However I have been in public debates where the aforementioned professionals did not see the need for any change to the system. They already had a heavy client load and didn't particularly want to start dealing with those at the lowest income levels.
Secondly, most people don't want to deal with the issue because there are no ready answers. The poor don't want to talk about their situation because that makes them have to take a painful look at their situation. As often as not they blame themselves for their dilemma. The rest of society are quite willing to let them take the blame. What could be handier than having the victims blame themselves?
I sat on the porch the other day and listened to an old friend ask the question; What did I do wrong that caused God to bring all this trouble on me? I could have been like Job's comforters but I didn't. That guy has lived an exemplary life, I will not put the blame on him nor will I put the blame [ in blanket form ] on all those who work, often hard and at low wages on them,
I know our society does and as long as we do they will, not only have to work for less than a living wage, they will also have to continue to suffer the stigma of that lowly position.
Once again Forbes Magazine reported on the billionaires. One had gained 5 billion in worth over the year. Figure how much that would be per day and send in a comment telling us what you think it is.

    Three kinds of help needed.

The working class, need at least three kinds of help.
    1. First they must learn to help themselves on several levels.
    2. Secondly, they must learn to identify and cooperate with a helping hand or attitude wherever they find it.
    3. They must realize that certain kinds of knowledge adds power and then they must learn how to use that power.

Workers need to know as much about the company they work for as the company knows about them. Who is the CEO, the middle management, the line supervisor and what does the company make, as in merchandise and what does it make as in profits.
This may take some time but with all the information on the web it's not as hard as it used to be. By all means don't let them know that you are building your own file; that would make them nervous and they might start putting some negative comments in your file. So keep it to yourself or share it with only someone you have complete trust in.
If they are a publicly traded company, find out what kind of dividends they are paying. In fact you might want to buy some stock yourself. See if you can find out what their labor costs are compared to gross sales. Next you might want to check out their history, who was the founder? Have there been mergers? What is their attitude toward the community?
Many workers might find this boring and not nearly as much fun as keeping up with the ball scores but take my word for it; it will pay off in the long run.
