Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Sometimes The Folks At Work Need Extra Help, And Sometimes....
Posted 09-06-2013 at 09:04 PM by case44
......they don't.
Look, it was worth a try, with me calling the guys at work this morning to see if they need an extra hand for the second half of the day shift. So what if it was one of my days off? Case needs a little cash.
Plus, if things were to get busy and too overwhelming for the crew, I'd offer to go and try to help.
Turns out the lead didn't need help despite only three dispatchers on hand (ideally, they need four or five, but work volume has been a little bit down). Oh, well. I can get along okay. There were other things to get done, anyway. Besides, I didn't really want to miss Rush Limbaugh's Open Line Friday.
The big bills will get paid for. Several weeks do remain before the big week out at Padre. That Labor Day check will be less than originally thought, but that's the breaks. Barring any unexpected expense, if I play my cards right, I can save enough for the upcoming trip and some things thereafter. With the big holidays coming in just a few months, those things will present themselves to be an opportunity to get finances higher and have a bigger low-water mark for me.
In the meantime, another work week will lie ahead once Sunday rolls around.

My work buddies are already so jealous, what with me going on vacation.
They were jealous before my last work day.Posted 10-19-2013 at 06:57 PM by case44
