There are many topics floating around that would be suitablefor discussion. It is possible that thetopics will change on a whim. Everyattempt will be made to remain focused and on point. There are however, no guarantees.

Recently, there has been discussion revolving around runningfor public office. I have always beenintrigued by the idea of serving the greater good. I know this is rather archaic in thought, but is there really anyother rational reason?

The idea was set in motion back in April or May of2013. It was just another e-mail from apolitical party looking for contributions. You make ONE $5.00 donation to the presidential candidate and they seemto thing you have nothing but a stack of Lincolns just waiting to be stampedand sent. Credit card information isalso appreciated.

This particular e-mail also had the paper cliphighlighted—signifying an attachment. Curiosity, or foolishness, I opened the attachment. Thinking I would find another plea for justone more Lincoln, I instead found an invitation.

“Ever Think of Running for Public Office?” was typed neatlyacross the top. The invitation went onto suggest reasons one might have for running. It even went so far as to point out by running I could help defeat thoseon the opposing side who sought to take the country down a long dark tunneltowards oblivion. But if saving mycountry appeared to be too big a responsibility, I might consider saving mystate or even the immediate community in which I live. How would any reasonable person say no?

After reading over each question several times and puttingtogether my best responses, I hit “SEND” and held my breath. I resumed breathing shortly thereafter, asit would be some 4 months before I received an acknowledgement of my submission.
