Today I'm in no mans land.

Today I am in a city of 37,000 that has no mayor, no city hall and only one councilman. This town seems to do quite well even though it is missing most of what one expects a city to have.
There is a water department and a place to pay the electric bill and a place to have the car checked for emissions but the police department is controlled by a larger parent city.
Street repairs and water mains are also taken care of from outside. The schools are good and there is one weekly publication that tries to tell the local stories.
As you might guess there are shopping malls and big box stores and lots of churches. Over the years I have got to know dozens of citizens from this area and not a one has suggested that the town be incorporated are changed in any way. To me this adds to how different one town is compared to another one.
