Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

The Spring Allergy: Something To Sneeze At
Posted 05-18-2013 at 11:14 AM by case44
Under usual circumstances, I always would look forward to spring because winter around where I live is boring as heck. Springtime hits, and with it come the usual trappings: Baseball, thunderstorms, warmer weather, flowers and trees blooming, people firing up the outdoor grills, more women wearing tights when exercising, me wearing T-shirts with regularity, golf on TV, .....
.......allergies!
I think I should readily confess that I've been allergic to grass pollen for years. Oh, I love the smell of fresh-cut grass. I'm not sure what else I'd be allergic to, quite frankly. Back when I lived at home with mom and dad (many, many years ago), I used to get on a tractor and mow both the big front yard and the big back yard. And use a push mower to cut the grass in the ditch. And use the weed-eater to edge. On an acre and 3/4, it usually would take about six hours to do if everything worked properly. For years, I wouldn't wear a mask when mowing, but later on, I would, just because I'd do an incredible amount of sneezing to a lot of the pollens that jump up at me whenever I'd do any mowing. Glad I'm in an apartment setting now so I can watch the maintenance crew get after it.
Today, some of that grass pollen in the air somehow lingers in certain places where I'd go. But most of my sneezing has been taking place indoors. Goes back to my earlier allusion: What else could I be allergic to if grass weren't such a big deal?
Back to the old electronic brain??
